The Glex Summit is returning from 15 to 19 June and will bring together explorers from all over the world in Porto and on Terceira Island in the Azores.

The city of Porto will host the the Glex Ignition Session on the first day of the Global Exploration Summit. After that, the summit of explorers and scientists is travelling to the Terceira island for the second year in a row, for two more days of sharing stories of exploration and science related to space, oceans and conservation of the planet.

Organised by Expanding World and curated by The Explorers Club, the fifth edition of the Glex Summit will kick off at Alfândega do Porto on the 15th. The Glex Ignition Session will be entirely dedicated to the evolution of space exploration.

On the 18th and 19th, with sessions open to the public, the Glex Summit will take place at the Angra do Heroísmo Cultural and Congress Centre in the Azores, with a programme that will share the latest discoveries, innovative technologies and new missions that are revolutionising the future of the planet.

Under the motto 'What's Next?', one of the highlights of this year's edition will be dedicated to the revolution of the next decade of lunar exploration, with emphasis on the Artemis mission, which will take a crew of astronauts to set foot on the Moon for the first time since 1972, including the first woman. This NASA mission represents a turning point in the consolidation of space exploration, as it not only aims to open doors for future missions, but also to establish a sustainable and lasting human presence on the Moon. Climate change is also a key theme.

"What a pride and what a privilege! Another year in which we've managed to bring the largest gathering of explorers on our planet to Portugal. The city of Porto hosts the first day of the summit - a first! - and then we're travelling back to the Azores and the island of Terceira. The Glex Summit 2023 was an inspiring and enriching experience that brought us to the front line of explorers in all areas, from Alaska to the Amazon rainforest, including the oceans and the far reaches of space. In addition to the oceans and nature conservation, one of the focus topics of this edition is the next decade on the moon with the Artemis mission that will take the first Europeans to the moon," says Manuel Vaz, head of Expanding World.
