The island of São Miguel, in the Azores, was the chosen destination to host the 44th National Congress of APAVT - Associação Portuguesa das Agências de Viagens e Turismo (Portuguese Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies), taking place from 21st to 25th November. Approximately 500 participants are expected to attend this meeting in Ponta Delgada, including travel agents and tour operators, opinion leaders and other players in this business.

"With this congress, we celebrate the 'good tide' the Azores are experiencing, a corollary of a work of many years, gathering travel agents, the Azores authority, and other partners in the sector. We are, of course, enthusiastic and happy! We are, of course, enthusiastic and happy!" Pedro Costa Ferreira,  APAVT President, mentioned in the announcement at Teatro Micaelense, which will host the work sessions of the congress, within a protocol between the Regional Secretary for Energy, Environment and Tourism of the Azores and the association.

"We know that the APAVT Congress is known as an important engine in increasing the flow of tourists, so hosting this event in the Azores will be a very important moment of promotion, taking into account the profile of the vast majority of participants, concretely, travel agents that promote and market potential destinations.", commented Marta Guerreiro, Regional Secretary for Energy, Environment and Tourism of the Azores, that is hosting this event for the fourth time.
