At the UNWTO & WTM Ministers' Summit, held in London, Brazil was praised for the success of hosting the World Cup 2014. Representatives from about 60 countries participated in this meeting of the sector, organized by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). The meeting was part of the parallel activities of the World Travel Market (WTM).

Vinicius Lummertz, Brazilian Secretary of State for Tourism Policies, talked about the major challenges for national tourism and the advances recently achieved in the country, especially with the hosting of the World Cup. According to him, this mega event contributed to accelerate the investment in infrastructure in Brazil, as well as the renovation of more than 420 hotels. Events cause impact on destinations and "affect issues ranging from investment and employment growth to tourist flow, thanks to the visibility obtained by the country and now we work to maintain it," said Secretary Lummertz.
