The operation, which ends on 28th October of next year, will also allow the Portuguese passengers flying to over 60 destinations in the American continent.

"Next summer, we will have about 2,300 seats available per week between Portugal and the United States, hoping to get new passengers in our country, while contributing to the growth of the Lisbon economy, thanks to convenient access to US tourists," said Dwight James, senior vice president of Delta Air Lines for the transatlantic market.

According to the Tourism of Portugal president, Luís Araújo, "the North American market has a growth this year still higher than 2015 [last year, the number of tourists coming from America rose 18.8%]", being a growing market preparing to reach this year half a million tourists. "This Delta new operation will provide a huge network of destinations in the United States," he added.
