Hotel da Fábrica: tradition and nature in Serra da Estrela

The view is privileged to the Glacier Valley, in the heart of Serra da Estrela. But beyond the landscape, Hotel da Fábrica highlights the region's traditions and the history of weaving, as it occupies the former Ecolã factory in Quinta de Santa Clara. This hotel unit, which opened at the end of last year, is also an event venue.
As if all the possible activities in the mountains were not enough, and all the relaxing moments to recharge energies, Hotel da Fábrica also provides a trip through local traditions. Once there was Ecolã, today located in another place in Manteigas, and the space tells the story of the cycle of wool, burel and the company itself, created in 1925.
With a sustainable and ecological view, the three-storey Hotel da Fábrica has 18 rooms and two suites, an event room, an indoor heated pool, a massage room, a sauna and a terrace with breathtaking views.
The event area offers 135sqm and can accommodate small and medium events, such as board meetings, conventions or product launches, for example. Certain are the glances towards the Glacier Valley, as it is a glazed area.
“With a privileged view over Manteigas village, the idea independently outlined over the years is to provide tourists with a stay that goes far beyond a resting space. It aims to be a meeting point with nature, an experience of communion with the environment and the opportunity to foster an awareness of self-sustainability,” says João Clara, hotel manager, in a press release.
