Lisbon climbs ICCA ranking to sixth place

Lisbon has gone up to 6th place in the world city ranking of the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) published on May 13th, and referring to 2018.

Altogether, Lisbon hosted 152 events that meet the association's criteria. Porto also registered a two-place rise, having hosted 71 events, five more than last year. Cascaisand Coimbra are the Portuguese cities that appear next in the ranking, both occupying the 180th position, with 16 events. Aveiro is in the 225th position, while Funchal and Faro occupy the 409th. Ponta Delgada and Albufeira are in 465th place.

In terms of cities, Barcelona lost the first place to Paris. Next in the top 3 are Viennaand Madrid. The Catalan city falls to the 4th place, while Berlin reaches the 5th. Closing the top 10 are London, Singapore, Prague and Bangkok.

In terms of countries, the United States ranks first, with 947 meetings, followed by Germany and the United Kingdom. Portugal holds the 11th position with 306 events.

For its rankings, ICCA considers regular international events, which are held on a rotating basis between countries, and with an audience of at least 50 participants.
