Unearth, a new MICE forum will launch in the Faroe Islands in October 2026, bringing together senior buyers and suppliers from across the global MICE industry.
Created in partnership with Visit Faroe Islands, the inaugural edition of Unearth Europe will take place in Tórshavn from 7-10 October 2026. The forum is designed as a hosted buyer marketplace dedicated exclusively to responsible supply for high-end meetings, incentives and corporate events.
The event is expected to welcome up to 40 senior incentive and corporate buyers, with approximately 80% travelling from across Europe. Participants will be selected through a curated process based on seniority, annual purchasing budgets and a demonstrated commitment to more responsible procurement practices.
Unearth Europe will connect buyers with destinations, hotels, DMCs and travel partners demonstrating real progress in responsible event delivery, from independently certified organisations to those taking measurable steps to reduce impact and drive positive change.
Hosted at Hotel Føroyar and supported by local stakeholders, the forum will centre around pre-scheduled one-to-one meetings, alongside immersive experiences designed to showcase the destination and its culture. Delegates will also have opportunities to engage with the Faroese landscape through curated local activities and outdoor experiences.
The programme reflects the Faroe Islands’ wider commitment to responsible tourism, with delegates invited to take part in a hands-on experience inspired by ‘Closed for Maintenance, Open for Voluntourism’, offering a practical insight into how the destination actively maintains and protects its landscapes.
The forum will additionally include the Untold Series, a platform bringing together industry professionals and local voices for open discussions and knowledge exchange around the future of responsible events and tourism.
“We strategically work to create value for our communities while protecting the environment that makes the Faroe Islands unique. Hosting Unearth allows us to welcome industry leaders who are actively exploring how events can be delivered more thoughtfully, while experiencing first-hand how our destination approaches these questions,” said Súsanna Samró, meetings and events at Visit Faroe Islands.
Gemma Watson, event director, added: “Unearth came from a clear shift in how events are being sourced. Sustainability is shaping procurement, but many buyers don’t have the time to assess who is genuinely doing the work. Unearth bridges that gap, connecting senior planners with partners already responding to these expectations.”
“The response to the debut has been incredibly strong, which speaks both to the demand for a platform like this and the intent across the industry to do things differently. The Faroe Islands is an intriguing destination in its own right, but also one with long-term, strategic ambitions to uphold its commitment to responsible tourism. That combination makes it a natural place to launch Unearth, and a fitting reflection of what we’re setting out to build.”
Applications are open for both buyers and suppliers.
