The new Pousada de Lisboa - Praça do Comércio is located near the River Tagus in a prime location in the capital. This was the place where, for centuries, ships disembarked with goods. The square was destroyed by the earthquake of 1755. In the 90s of the twentieth century, this building held the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The restoration of the building lasted for 17 months. Under the management of the Pestana Group, the Pousada de Lisboa – Praça do Comércio falls into the Monument Hotel category. The unit consists of 90 rooms divided by standard, superior, deluxe, duplex and suite segments. Facilities include a spa, swimming pool, sauna, treatment room, fitness centre and meeting room. The Main Hall (Salão Nobre) has 168m2 and seats up to 154 people. The Terreiro do Paço Room adjusts to accommodate 143 people in its 137m2.

According to José Theotónio, Grupo Pestana Executive Chairman, " Pousada de Lisboa - Praça do Comércio is a unit that will leave a mark in the hotel industry in Portugal. It meets all the standards of the best international hotels, as well as those defined by Group Pestana Hotels for its top segment units."
