Monuments, castles, landscapes. Altogether there are 57 sites that can be visited virtually from Google or Google Maps. The “Maravilhas de Portugal" (Portuguese Wonders) project, the result of a partnership between the General Inspectorate of Cultural Heritage and multinational Google, intends to value the Portuguese culture and tourism.

"The importance [of this project] is very significant, Google being the world's largest search engine," said Jorge Barreto Xavier the Secretary of State for Culture, quoted by Lusa agency, highlighting the fact that any internet user now is able to, "make a 360 degrees detailed visit to all the 57 monuments that, starting today, are available online for the whole world."

Among the places to visit are Torre de Belém, Jerónimos Monastery, the Queluz and Pena palaces, Braga Cathedral, the Walls of Obidos, Guimarães Castle, the Batalha Monastery, the Alto Douro Wine Region and Serra da Estrela (mountain range).
