Porto again climbed ICCA - International Congress and Convention Association's ranking.

It now occupies the 32nd position worldwide, in a universe of 1835 cities evaluated, and the 20th place in Europe, which includes 844 cities.

According to Associação de Turismo do Porto – Convention & Visitors Bureau (ATP – CVB) executive director Rui Pedro Gonçalves, "the result achieved is already a consequence of a strategy implemented at the beginning of the year [2018], which allowed to attract more events through of a connection of proximity to the associative and corporate sector". He added that "consolidating this strategy will enable more and better results to be achieved in the coming years."

The head of ATP - CVB also believes that "the professionalisation of the ongoing ICCA and Cvent database management will be a very important element in prepararing bids to capture larger events and giving a greater visibility to the region in this field".

Rui Pedro Gonçalves concluded saying that "this is a victory for the whole region and the new Super Bock Arena Congress Centre and the reactivation of the ATP's work with Europarque will strengthen the Northern region as a MICE destination of excellence, equipped with modern infrastructure and capable of hosting more and larger events."
