Portugal Is an Attractive Market for Turkey

Turkey is a Portugal competitor destination. But Volkan Ataman, ACE of M.I.C.E. (AME) exhibition General Director, believes that Portugal is also "a very attractive market for Turkey." "Besides the cultural similarity between the two countries, there are direct flights from Turkey to Portugal, making your country an interesting market for the MICE industry," he mentioned to Event Point.
This year, several Portuguese participants joined the exhibition, both as hosted buyers and as visitors. For 2016, the organisation is still working on the destination. "We are in contact with convention bureaus and MICE companies from Portugal for the 2016 AME. DMCs and hotels, especially in Porto and Lisbon, have shown interest in the exhibition. Our goal is to reach the maximum number of exhibitors, hosted buyers and visitors from Portugal," Volkan Ataman notes.
In 2016, the event will seek to address some of the topics that most interest the sector. The main ones are: "Women in the MICE industry," "The Future of The Trade Fair Industry ", "International Events Security", "Event Design Trends", "Pharma Meetings" and "University Students and the MICE Industry." In terms of the exhibition itself, the aim is ambitious. "Our exhibition, which had only four exhibitors in its first edition, reached 71 exhibitors in 2015. We expect the number to increase to around 120 in 2016 AME". The event takes place in Istanbul from 16th to 18th March.
