‘Specialisation’ the buzzword to M&I’s rethinking of healthcare meetings

Healthcare meetings have moved way past the old-school trade show model.
And honestly, that’s not just a trend, it’s the reality of a sector shaped by compliance, regulation, and real-world procurement pressure.
That’s why M&I built ‘M&I Healthcare’; a focused, decision-led meeting environment where conversations are structured from day one. The goal is simple, to help buyers compress sourcing timelines from months into a few high-impact days through pre-scheduled meetings, education, and peer exchange.
Following a record-breaking M&I Healthcare Brighton 2026, which brought together 130 qualified healthcare buyers and 150 supplier delegates from 107 organisations, M&I is taking its specialist hosted buyer model across the Atlantic, connecting healthcare planners with destinations, venues and suppliers that understand the unique demands of regulated healthcare meetings.
In the Healthcare sector buyers don’t need generic inspiration, they need confidence and answers that hold up under scrutiny. And they need suppliers who actually understand the requirements before anyone starts talking.
But it only works if everyone’s speaking the same language. So all exhibitors go through sector-specific training, and M&I have partnered with 3Sixty Consulting in Europe/ US and with other industry associates to make sure suppliers can engage meaningfully, right from the first conversation, not after the “getting up to speed” phase.
Europe proved the point. Now it’s North America’s turn
When M&I started planning for 2027, they looked across the Atlantic to see if the same problem was showing up in the US and it was. In their discussions with US-based peers, the message was loud and consistent; healthcare buyers are dealing with the same challenges, but there isn’t a structured platform that solves them end-to-end.
So, the North America launch isn’t “expansion for expansion’s sake” it’s bringing a proven model to a market that’s asking for it.
Paula Jurvanen, Managing Director at M&I, said: "Healthcare and life sciences meetings demand a different approach. Planners need partners who already understand the sector's unique compliance, regulatory and operational requirements, not generic conversations. That's exactly why we created M&I Healthcare. By combining qualified buyers, compliant suppliers, specialist education and meaningful matchmaking, we've built a forum where every meeting has purpose and every connection has value. The success of M&I Healthcare in Europe has shown there's a clear appetite for a dedicated marketplace, making our expansion into North America the natural next step. We're excited to bring this proven model to another thriving healthcare and life sciences community.”
Choosing destinations that add value
A healthcare event can’t just “look good” the location has to compliment and make the program better.
Dallas is a strong fit for healthcare and pharma events, especially as one of the United States’ leading healthcare and life science hubs. A central location in the US, backed by a large healthcare ecosystem, and supported by the kind of event infrastructure that helps meetings run smoothly and attract the right industry audience.
Craig Davis, President and CEO of Visit Dallas, said: "We are thrilled to welcome the M&I Healthcare team to Dallas and look forward to showcasing everything our great city has to offer. Dallas is a world-class destination for the healthcare and life sciences industry, offering state-of-the-art meeting facilities and outstanding connectivity with direct flights from across the country, which makes it the perfect location for meaningful connections and industry conversations."
M&I Healthcare will also return to Europe in 2027 partnering with Milano and Partners to welcome this unique event to Milan, home to a €74.5 billion life sciences economy. In The Milan Marriott Hotel, will be the host property and has just undergone a full-scale renovation. For experienced planners, updated facilities aren’t a nice-to-have, they form part of the process to understand what’s new, what’s ready, what’s improved. Fresh supply creates stronger demand, which helps us bring the right buyers to the event.
Fiorenza Lipparini, GM of Milano and Partners said: "We are proud and genuinely delighted to welcome M&I Healthcare to Milan in 2027. This is not simply a prestigious event coming to our city. It is a recognition that Milan has earned its place among Europe's foremost destinations for scientific and medical congresses. A scientific congress thrives when the city around it amplifies its purpose. In Milan, delegates will step outside the meeting room and into one of Europe's most dynamic life sciences clusters."
Building credibility through the right partnerships
The M&I brand is built on credibility and visible across all M&I products. However, in healthcare, credibility is everything. This is why partnerships matter so much, as they shape the quality of the conversations and the structure of the program.
M&I is excited to work with a range of industry partners for their North American edition with exciting announcements to be made in the future. These are not last-minute add-ons, but collaborations that have been building for a while, and it brings deep industry weight to their events.
In Europe and US, M&I are continuing their partnership with specialist consultancy 3Sixty Consulting as our global content partner, helping guide the programme with industry insight so the education and discussions stay grounded in what buyers and suppliers actually need.
Mark Handforth, Founder of 3Sixty Event Consulting, said: “Healthcare meetings are unlike any other part of the events industry. Success hinges on understanding compliance, regulation, and ultimately improving patient outcomes, so the education must be as specialized as the audience. Our aim is always to equip delegates with practical ideas they can act on immediately, while sparking discussions on the challenges shaping the future. AI is one of those key topics, but we’ll also tackle evolving regulations and engagement strategies. As technology evolves, planners will spend less time on administration and more on creating engaging, meaningful experiences. That’s why every M&I Healthcare programme is designed not only for today’s needs, but for where the industry is heading tomorrow.”
M&I’s intent is always the same, to bring the right expertise into the ecosystem so the event isn’t just “good during the days” but it delivers value after the doors close. Education remains a core component of M&I Healthcare
A more focused definition of value
The biggest change in how healthcare meetings define value is not just about how many meetings you can pack in.
It’s about relevance and purpose. It’s also about making every interaction count, because in healthcare, time, risk, and compliance don’t allow for errors of judgement.
This is where the sector is heading, and it demands a platform built for real decision-making not broad programming and this is what M&I aim to deliver.
