In the ICCA world ranking, led by Vienna, Lisbon maintains second place in the list of cities with the most congresses. Portugal repeats the top ten.
The ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association) has announced its ranking for 2024. Lisbon has retained second place, but only one event away from the city that came first: Vienna. The rest of the top ten is made up of Barcelona, Prague, Paris (leader of the 2023 ranking), Seoul, Bangkok, Rome and Athens.
Porto, the next destination for the ICCA world congress, comes in 34th place worldwide and 22nd in Europe, with 59 meetings.
Portugal remained in ninth place worldwide, with 290 events. This ranking was led by the United States of America, Italy and Spain. In European terms, Portugal is in seventh place. The top three is made up of Italy, Spain and Germany.
“The performance of Portugal and its cities in the ICCA ranking also highlights the work done by tourism to position the country as a leading destination in the MICE industry. And, in this regard, it's important to highlight the Portugal Events Program, which has been a fundamental tool for attracting events of international importance, reinforcing tourism's contribution to the national economy and enhancing our offer,” said Carlos Abade, president of Turismo de Portugal, in a press release.
