It is the first European country to earn it.

Portugal is the first European country to receive the 'Safe Travels' stamp from the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC). This stamp aims to recognise destinations that comply with health and hygiene protocols in line with the WTTC Safe Travel Protocols. This way, destinations send a message of confidence to consumers, so that they feel safe when travelling.

For the Secretary of State for Tourism, Rita Marques, “Portugal was a pioneer in launching the Clean & Safe stamp. This WTTC stamp comes to reward the effort that has been made by everyone. The best destination in the world is also seen as the safest worldwide.”

WTTC has also published guidelines for congress, meeting and event centres.

In addition to distinguishing destinations, WTTC is also promoting a stamp that recognises the commitment to safety by companies.
